WHO WE ARE

Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good is a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c) (3) organization that promotes awareness of Catholic Social Teaching and its core values of justice, dignity and the common good to Catholics, the media and Americans of all faiths. Through communications, grassroots outreach and strategic coordination, Catholics in Alliance supports Catholic organizations that work to advance the common good.

Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good works with a network of more than 20 national Catholic and interfaith organizations that include laypeople, theologians, priests, and women religious committed to the Christian values of social justice, human dignity and the common good. Catholics in Alliance is continually working to forge new partnerships within the Catholic and faith communities.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe in a culture of the common good where people look out for each other and where concern for one another is reflected in the corporations, communities, entertainment and government we produce. A culture of the common good supports the health, welfare and advancement of all people, regardless of race, gender, religion or economic class. A core principle of Catholic Social Teaching affirms that society functions best when decisions are made for the benefit of everyone, and not just a few.

WHAT WE DO

Communications. Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good works to promote the Catholic vision of the common good by maintaining a Commentators Bureau of religious leaders, who serve as voices for the common good in national and local media. Catholics in Alliance maintains a proactive media office that works to project the Catholic voice into stories related to social justice issues through letters-to-the-editors, op-eds, press releases, and radio and television appearances. Other services include a daily Catholic Media Report and a monthly electronic newsletter.

Grassroots Outreach. Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good has created a comprehensive grassroots outreach program to bring the message of Catholic Social Teaching to Catholics at the local level. Working with our Catholic organizational partners, we are building a network of Catholic leaders to promote Catholic Social Teaching at the local level. We also work with local Catholic leaders to promote the common good message in the media.

Strategic Coordination.
Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good serves as a public networking space where Catholic organizations and leaders dedicated to the common good can converge, organize and unite as a collective voice. Catholics in Alliance serves as a coordination point for statements, media activities and other collaborative projects. Specific aspects of our strategic coordination program include strategic retreats and listservs for Catholic participating organizations and their leadership, as well as a public theologians and religious leaders' network.
