5th Annual Rev. William J. Young Social Justice Summer Conference
University of St. Thomas
Houston, Texas
June 4-6, 2008.

The Young Social Justice Conference is named after the late Rev. William Young, a Basilian priest who served tirelessly for justice and peace issues in the Houston-Galveston region of Texas over the past three decades. Although the conference is primarily directed at practitioners such as archdiocesan ministers and parish social ministers, it is open to academics, students, and anyone who would like to attend. This year, the first day will focus on the principle of solidarity, in the context of the immigration and globalization issues and the second day will focus on the USCCB document, Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship and the overall issue of the Catholic vote in the 2008 and recent elections.

The registration fee for the conference is $35 and we offer housing in our campus dormitory for $45 a night. For further questions, contact Deborah Fernandez at 713-525-3812 or fernanda@stthom.edu.
