On Monday night, you tweeted an image that compared Syrian refugees to a bowl of Skittles sprinkled with a few that “would kill you.”
“This image says it all. Let’s end the politically correct agenda that doesn’t put America first,” you wrote.
As Catholics, we believe that's absolute malarkey. Syrian refugees aren't Skittles.
They're—as Pope Francis reminds us—"not pawns on the chessboard of humanity, but children, women, and men deserving of our love and respect."
We are called by God to listen to their stories, to share in their joys and anxieties, and to welcome them into our communities.
