Remarks of Sr. Anne Curtis

I am Sister Anne Curtis, a Sister of Mercy of the Americas and member of the leadership team. The Sisters of Mercy have a commitment to promote peace-making at all levels and we recognize an urgent duty and challenge to stand in solidarity with immigrants. Therefore, we believe that President Bush has a responsibility - a moral obligation to end the war in Iraq and aid the refugees by expediting the processing of refugee applicants and to provide the necessary funding for humanitarian assistance.

Remarks by Rev. Larry Snyder

Good morning,

Thank you for the opportunity to talk with you today on the issues of poverty and effective solutions that can create more opportunities for those who are less fortunate in our country.

As we move into the second term of the 110th Congress and the final year of President Bush’s term, we are once again faced with some critical decisions regarding the future of America and how we serve and create opportunities for the least among us.

The manner in which a society treats the least among is a statement as to what our priorities are as a nation.
